MediaTrust Toolkit is a best practices guide designed for local journalists, audiences of local media, and citizens in general. It is multimedia-based, interactive, and easy to navigate. This toolkit includes tutorials and educational content aimed at helping readers reflect on their media usage, as well as on critical literacy and media literacy. The guide is organized around the aggregation and development of tools in four key areas: identifying disinformation; understanding what constitutes news and fact-checking; media literacy strategies; and fact verification. Fact or Foe is an interactive experience that promotes learning through gameplay. Players are presented with a series of news items and publications and must determine whether they are factual or not. They can explore a website to find the right tools for fact-checking and source verification, uncover who is behind the news, combat disinformation, and make informed decisions. Some publications may attempt to capture the players’ attention and spread false information, putting their critical thinking skills to the test.
